BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:
WXKR/Toledo, WMEE/Fort Wayne, WLTF/Cleveland, WNPL/Nashville, WXKR/Atlanta, WCSX/Detroit, WBZU/Madison, WWLB/Richmond, and WRXS (now WCGX) & WBWR/Columbus.
1. What stands out the most from your first job in Toledo?
Well, for starters, I can afford to pay my phone bill now, but over all, PPM stands out the most. It has completely changed the way we program, and offers an enormous array of data.
2. Tell us the reason behind the decision to switch the station back to Alternative as X106.7?
We felt we needed a more musically focused station then what the Gen X format was offering.
3. How is X106.7 different than its previous incarnation as Radio 106.7?
Honestly, it's really not much different at all. Different name and VO Imaging talent, but the programming strategy is the same.
4. What is most important to you when championing new music for the station?
No single thing really. I look at a variety of different outlets , such as M Scores, local sales, gut feeling of sound, and the brilliant minds of Johnny Allers of WRFF and Lenny Diana of WRZX when considering new music for the station
5. Tell us about the five hours you are currently promoting as Commercial Free Hours?
It's pretty straight forward...five hours of Commercial Free X 1067 music five times per day Monday-Sunday. The hours differ per day.
6. What has been X106.7's biggest accomplishment thus far?
Well, it's only been a few months, but the consistent ratings growth so far has been a great sign for more bigger things to come!
7. What is the most challenging part of your job?
Honestly, passion. Passion can be your worst enemy...try going on vacation or going through an entire weekend and not checking your e-mail, or thinking of ideas on how to improve you product. Yep, I can't do it. I breathe this station.
8. How are you using Social Media?
We are always trying to find creative ways to utilize our Social Media efforts and engage our listeners. We communicate directly to our listeners via Facebook and try and create an open forum of communication amongst listeners. We are sure to respond to every single comment left on our page, and make sure our posts are pertinent to the audience so they feel compelled to interact.
9. What has been the most defining moment of your radio career?
Believing in something and having the support and trust from management to execute my vision.
10. What would surprise people most about you?
I'd like to get my Masters degree in Education and one day work in an inner city school and hopefully make a difference in less fortunate children's lives.
Bonus Questions
When you're away from work, what are you music listening habits to the radio, iPod, online, etc.?
Depends what I'm doing. Hanging around the house, I have one of my stations on. When I'm out running, I listening to my iPod or iHeartRadio. My household is full of four music loving junkies....so something is always playing whether it's Alternative, Folk, Classical, Pop, Classic Rock, etc.
