Sunday's Super Bowl was the most watched television show in U.S. history. However, they say many viewers left the game at halftime...Just like the Denver Broncos.
The legal battle between THE KARDASHIANS and Robert Kardashian's wife, Ellen Pearson Kardashian, continues. She's the woman who was married to Robert at the time of his death and she now says in court documents that Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian chose to attend a party rather than be at their father's bedside when he died. The Kardashians are suing Ellen for $500,000 in damages, claiming she sold their belongings to a number of magazine publishers. However, Ellen countersued for defamation, inflicting emotional distress, and the public disclosure of private facts.
Despite previous rumors to the contrary, LAURA PREPON will return to ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK for most of season two. While she won't appear for the entire season, the entire cast is already in talks for season three.
- BRUNO MARS and THE RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS broke the record for the biggest audience in Super Bowl history, attracting 115.3 million viewers for their halftime show. That breaks the record of 114 million set by Madonna two years ago and the 110.8 million who tuned in to see Beyonce last year.
A 14-year-old girl in Maine was burned when her iPhone 5C caught on fire in her pants pocket last Friday. The principal at her school said, "Immediately, smoke starts billowing from around the student. She knew right away something was wrong and, in a panic, knew her pants were on fire caused by the cell phone." The girl was forced to remove her pants, and the iPhone was still "smoldering" when it fell to the floor. The girl was treated and released at a local hospital.
The Seattle Seahawks' Super Bowl win meant over $7 million in free furniture for some lucky Houston area residents. Gallery Furniture owner Jim "Mattress Mack" McIngvale had a deal going on where if customers bought more than $6,000 in furniture, they'd get a refund if the Seahawks won. (See here)
Florida TV news reporter Josh Taylor went to cover a story about a rental scam. Taylor went to the house in question and was setting up his camera when Jean Price confronted him, seized his tripod and drove away in his news vehicle. Authorities are pretty certain it was Jean because Taylor managed to capture the incident on film. Taylor later found his vehicle a few blocks away and Jean could face grand theft auto charges.
