After 256 years, Guinness is making a change to its beer recipe. The change is in response to vegans, who were unable to drink Guinness because it was filtered through fish bladders. The fish collagen, also known as isinglass, has been used since day one at Guinness, to help yeast settle faster and clarify the liquid. The new fish-free filtration process will be implemented next year and since the current process doesn't change the taste or texture, Guinness says you won't be able to tell the difference.
The New York Mets have signed manager Terry Collins to a new two-year contract. Collins led the Mets to their first National League pennant in 15 years this season and had been in the final guaranteed year of his existing deal.
When the Costco store in Burbank, California, offered free samples of Nutella wafers it was a big hit. Derrick Gharabighi approached the sample table and scooped up all the wafers, but when 78-year-old Sahak Sahakian said he wanted one and told Derrick not to take so many, the 24-year-old responded by giving Sahak a big hit in the face. Sahak suffered facial swelling and a significant cut above his left eye, while Derrick pleaded guilty to elder abuse and could suffer up to two years in prison.
