1. Brief History/Synopsis
I was born in NYC, grew up in Orlando, FL as an only child, was homeschooled, graduated from UCF with an English degree, and my husband and two kids and I currently live in Nashville, TN.
2. What does a normal day at home look like for you?
We travel as a family, so when we're in a touring season, it's waking up on the bus, making coffee, sound checking, doing interviews/press, playing with the kids, getting ready for the show, meet and greets, etc. When we're home, I'm a normal mom as much as I can be...cooking meals, doing laundry, changing diapers, going to playdates. But there are many days at home when I'm also working, so we have a great girl who comes to the house to watch the kids if I need to be in the studio when we're home. It's a very unique life, but I'm grateful to get to take my family to work with me, and I know they are having some great experiences along the way.
3. What's the song that you just can't get out of your head right?
"I Choose You" by Sara Bareilles. It's so sparse and lilting, and it's my favorite song to listen to right now.
4. How much do you travel, what are the challenges?
We travel about half the year. It's definitely a juggling act. I'm a homebody, and I'd be perfectly content to stay home and not travel, but I know it's what God has called me to at this stage of life, and so we embrace it and try to make it as fun as we can. We have a great team around us, and I truly miss them when we're not on the road.
5. What's the biggest "God moment" that you've ever experienced?
I have God moments all the time. He speaks to me when I'm on stage, when I'm playing with my kids, through meeting fans, books--all the time. I'm so grateful to get to be in full time ministry experience those moments all the time.
6. What's the last book you read?
I recently read the Divergent trilogy. I'm a sucker for anything dystopian.
7. What caused you to want to serve God in full time ministry?
I've been a follower of Jesus since I was 5-years-old. I was 17 when I remember being in a worship service and feeling the call to serve the Lord with my music. I haven't looked back since!
8. Tell us about your latest project.
The album is called "If We're Honest." It's a personal, worshipful album with a lot of energy. I'm so proud of how it turned out, and I can't wait to see how the Lord uses these songs in people's lives.
9. Person you'd most like to have a discussion with, living or dead.
Paul the Apostle.
10. Favorite Bible Verse....life verse.
Jeremiah 29:11. When things are crazy, I look to this verse. God's plans are better than mine, and His plans for me are GOOD.
