1. Birthplace, hometown, growing up, etc?
Levi: I was born in Las Vegas, Nevada, Raised in Arizona and now call California home. I grew up in a very musical home, my mom was a professional singer and my dad was just a huge music lover so I grew up listening to every genre you can think of, my childhood is different than most, not every kid gets the chance to live their dream for a living. I graduated High school a year early so I could focus on music, currently deciding upon college or not! When it comes to jobs, I am a vocal coach on the side, I am fairly new but it is coming along amazing, I love my students! Right now I am currently based in Los angeles, California.
Edgar: I was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio but now live in California. I grew up around an athletic atmosphere where I started playing soccer at a very young age, and found my passion for music at 15 (where I began to play the drums). Throughout high-school I held a flexible job working at a bakery. Once graduated high-school, I chose to pursue music with my friend Levi Mitchell and we created a duo called Outcast Republic. We currently live in Los Angeles.
2. What does a normal day at home look like for you?
We wake up, go to the gym, maybe have a meeting or two. Then we go to a writing session, then the studio and by the time we get home its almost midnight. On other days it's just wake up and go to a show.
3. What's the song that you just can't get out of your head right now?
"Here" by Alessia Cara. In fact we loved it so much we covered it! Check it out on youtube and soundcloud.
4. How much do you travel, what are the challenges? How do you juggle life on the road with wanting to be home?
We travel a lot. Its not hard for us to juggle life on the road and wanting to be at home because we are living the life we were called to live.
5. What Artist or Pastor has had the greatest impact on you?
Levi: Pastor Mathew Barnett for me. His heart to just serve is so awesome plus when you get to hang out with him he is just so fun! Hawk Nelson had a huge impact on me as well at an early stage of my music career. I got to a concert 5 hours early and Jason Dunn walked out talked to me. I told him I was singing letters to the president for a talent show, so he took me backstage and he showed me how to play it on piano and we sang together. That honestly is one of the biggest reason I got into performing.
Edgar: Joyce Meyer. Her messages help me throughout all aspects of life!
6. What's the last book you read?
We read the bible everyday. It gives us answers that we have going through everyday life. The bible is a book we can read and never get tired of.
7. Funniest or most embarrassing moment on the road?
The funniest moments come from our Rap battles to pass time away. Sometimes they are REALLY good or REALLY bad.
8. Tell us about your latest project.
Every song on our current project is so different from each other its hard to even describe the overall sound of it. We haven't come up with a title just yet. We just pray and put our trust in God that our music will reach the masses.
9. What organization/service group are you affiliated with?
We are affiliated with World vision, the dream center and pure till marriage (PTM). We connect with each organization on a different level from the other. These organizations really help us see what we are really doing all of this for, and that is to make the name of Jesus Christ famous
10. Person you'd most like to have a discussion with, living or dead.....Deities are excused from this question
Levi: I would love to have conversations with Moses, David, Samson, Timothy, Job and Abraham Lincoln. I really look up to those men and I would love to be at least half the man of God they were.
Edgar: I would like to have conversations with Paul and David, because they were true men of God.
Bonus Questions
1. Favorite Bible Verse....life verse?
Levi: Its hard to choose my favorite, but a verse that helps guide me to be the man of God I am called to be is 1 Peter 5:8-9. Every time I read this verse whenever I face temptation or any adversity, I realize that there is another believer fighting the same good fight of faith as me and I cant let them down nor can I let my faith falter.
Edgar: Proverbs 18:10 "The name of the Lord is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe." This verse reminds me that those who pursue the heart of God and run to Him will be safe. And nothing that comes against us will destroy us.
2. How & When did you become a believer?
Levi: I grew up in a house of faith but there came a point in my childhood (not really a specific age) where I really had to decide what life to live. I chose Jesus and I couldn't be more happier with my decision.
Edgar: I committed my life to Christ at JH Ranch located in Etna, California. I had known about Jesus, but I didn't have a personal relationship with Him, necessarily. I went on a retreat with my mother at 15 years old and really felt God tugging on my heart throughout that whole trip. I committed my life to Him, and His plan for my life has been unraveling ever since.
3. What's the biggest "God moment" you've ever experienced? Personally or professionally, when has God shown up in a powerful way?
Levi: There are a lot of experiences I could talk about, but recently I have been led by the Holy spirit more, I have been able to understand what he wants me to do more clearly recently. That just lets me know that he is getting me ready for something huge, so the biggest "God moment" is about to happen.
Edgar: When I was 17 I experienced the supernatural voice of God call out my name 3 times.
