A Car Dealer Event
One of the stations is doing a day-long event with one of their dealers that is kind of a version of the Fire Department Open House out where I live. One evening every October, there's free hotdogs, chips and drinks. All the vehicles are polished up and on display for the kids to climb on. They have a portable unit that resembles a small house and kids can crawl through it with fake smoke so they learn to stay low. There's a demonstration of them putting down a fire. They had a Life Flight chopper come in and you could sit in it. The kids could put on a helmet and shoot an actual fire hose at a target.
It was geared at kids 2-12. And with that demo...you get the parents.
The thing in Scandia is a MUST for my kids. We go every year. They get to crawl around on a pumper truck. Try the hose. And did I mention the free food?
Said station is doing this at a dealer. Which is perfect because what do car lots have? Space. And while the kids are meeting Fire Pup and getting balloons, the vultures will descend on the parents.
Gag Reflex Check #1
I worked at a hotel in college. You want good stories? Housekeeping and anyone who delivers room service.
Because if you're a germophobe, you are REALLY a germophobe, here is a list of the Dirtiest Hotels in the US from 2011.
I'd cut and paste some of the guest comments and include specific pics. This also, btw, plays in very nicely to Honeymoon Horror Stories. I did that once and awarded a winner with a second honeymoon in the Bahamas. Winner was a woman who, on the way to the airport with her new husband, got pulled over for a busted taillight blah blah blah, there was a kilo of blow in the spare tire blah blah blah she divorced him while he was "away". Apparently his job in "Import and Export" was really more importing. When she started beating her husband on the side of the road and screaming at him for being a liar, that apparently convinced law enforcement that this was a new revelation to her.
Also could be sponsorable by Swiffer or any cleaning service.

I spend what can only be described as a TREMENDOUS amount of time in hotel rooms. I have the cable channel schedules ingrained on my cerebral cortex. Was watching something on Discovery or A&E the other day about an entrepreneur who does Crime Scene Cleanup. Because once the cops are done, someone has to clean it up.
I lobbed this topic out at the clients a couple of years ago and they got some good interviews out of it. And a bevy(c) of these businesses are just a Google away.
