Soundcloud:
1) Where are you guys from?
Steve: We are from Holland.
2) Just out of curiosity, why isn't it Steve & Lucas?
Lucas: Well, the thing is there is this artist called Steve Lucas who kind of already sums up the questions. There was already somebody getting on as Steve Lucas.
Steve: The other thing is that it sounds better. Lucas & Steve sounds better than Steve & Lucas.
Lucas: It's a thing we had been going on and on about for a week. In the end, we decided it's Lucas & Steve. The best. So then we decided to do it like that five six years ago and that's how we named it.
3) So five, six years ago is that where it started for you?
Steve: Sure, I think five years. We've known each other for a very long time. From Primary School actually. After that about five years ago we decided to produce music and worked together in the studio, making music, playing together.
Lucas: Five years ago?
Steve: Yeah.
4) One of your recent really successful songs was with Jake Reese, "Calling On You," which had a really good video.
Lucas: Thanks!
Steve: Awkward dancing! LOL
Lucas: Yea, awkward dance moves in the video! Glad you like that part!
Steve: Yea! Actually like that part. LOL
5) It worked really work well here in the U.S. What was the reaction from around the world for that song?
Lucas: For us, it's always really exciting to go visit areas in which a song is working or not. Around Europe, we've been getting a lot of airplay since the beginning. We never expected that song to really reach America. I mean, Dance music is so different in the States than in Europe, so we were actually really surprised, happily surprised to see that it has played so well on the radio here.
Steve: Especially this record, after our track 'Summer On You' with Sam Felt did very well, especially in Europe, so we thought our follow-ups could work in the U.S.
6) You've had "Summer On You" and "Calling On You." When's the next "On You" song coming?
Lucas: Damn it! It's funny that you mention it because there are so many songs that obviously contain the word "you." So we were working on the next record and we're like yeah, it could be on you and then we just listened to the vocals and there was you in it again. So we're like no, no no, we've got to change it. We can't do that anymore
7) Are you working on an EP, an album, or is it more single related?
Steve: We worked on six or seven tracks that we finished already for the rest of the year, but we have to pick the best of them. We're going to release five of them this year and then probably the other three, if they're good enough. It's a luxury position that we have now. We have so much material finished so we're going to pick the best ones.
Lucas: For the most part it's going to be club tracks; that's what keeps the party crowd going. That's a really important thing. We have some true club and festival bangers and then some really beautiful radio songs.
8) You've had a lot of collaborations too date that you've done, including your recent single with Bassjackers, "These Heights," featuring Caroline Pennell and the just-released single with Firebeatz, "Show Me Your Love." Is there a dream collaboration for you guys and if so, who would it be with?
Lucas & Steve: We would like to work with Axwell /\ Ingrosso.
9) You guys grew up together in primary school, who are some of your inspirations?
Lucas: Back then, not sure it's the same for Steve, but I was into a lot of Tiesto music. Back in the day, of course, there was trance, when I started DJing at about 12. I started playing trance in the beginning.
Steve: I didn't play Trance; I liked Tiesto. I think I was one of the first to buy the album of Tiesto when it came out, LOL
10) Are you guys working on any remixes?
Lucas: We've been remixing a lot in the past. Then we noticed we could do more with our creativity if we were not remixing. The impact of a track that's not a remix, but an original one usually can be a bit bigger. That's the thing we've been working on for a year to expand our sound within our grade ... our own range. We do sample every now and then. We do use, like Steve said, Michael Jackson song, "Pretty Young Thing," and that's a thing we'll probably do every now and then. Of course, you have to change it up a bit.
Bonus Questions
Let's give your fans a chance to get to know you a little better. What's the last song you sang in the shower?
Steve: "I Believe I Can Fly" by Seal
Lucas: Oh yes, he does sing that but it doesn't have to be in the shower! LOL In the car, also in the airplane! Personally, not too loud, but he does it!!
What song did you hear Lucas sing?
Steve: Lucas sing? He can't! LOL
Lucas: That's right!! LOL
You guys spend a lot of time together, what's the best practical joke you've pulled on each other?
Lucas: We do that actually quite a lot!
Steve: Yea!
Lucas: I'm not sure if this is the best one, but Steve comes back from the Men's room in the studio and his screen saver is changed to something stupid or nasty.
Steve: What we do all the time in the studio, is we have this, if Lucas goes to the bathroom, I'm sitting in the chair in the studio, he's sneaking down my back, and gives me a little bitch slap in the face from behind.
We're going with some one-word answers...Reality or Scripted TV?

Steve: Homemade.
If you weren't making music, what would you be doing?
Lucas: I'd probably be working as a consultant. I finished the University, graduated about two years ago, so yea, that's what I'd be doing.
Steve: I've actually no idea!
If you were to give one piece of career advice to an up-and-coming producer or artist, what would it be?
Steve: Work very hard. The thing is that we do something that we really love -- and to do that is not work. It doesn't feel like work.
Lucas: That's the thing; you put twice as much effort into it, then if you were having a bad feeling overworking yourself too much. For us it's always been work, make your hours at the studio, but also to find your original sound. Find your own spot in the huge amount of DJ producers who are already there. It's a really hard thing to do. Once you get there, it'll take you steps further.
