Elena Jane "Ellie" Goulding is an English singer-songwriter. In 2010 she became the second artist to both top the BBC's annual Sound of... poll and win the Critics' Choice Award at the Brit Awards in the same year, following Adele's win of both in 2008. After signing to Polydor Records in 2009, she released her first EP in 2009, An Introduction to Ellie Goulding.
Goulding released her debut studio album, Lights, in 2010. The album debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart and has sold over 850,000 copies in the UK. Her cover of Elton John's "Your Song" reached number two in the UK in December 2010, and on 29 April 2011, she performed the song at the wedding reception of Prince William and Kate Middleton at Buckingham Palace. The album's title track, "Lights", was released in the US in March 2011, reaching number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100,
In April, Goulding stated that she hoped the album would be released in October 2012. That same month, her single "Lights" was certified platinum in the United States by the RIAA. On the July 10th, Goulding released a free track on her Soundcloud which features Tinie Tempah. She announced the song "Hanging On" as her new direction.
"Anything Could Happen" is the lead single from English singer songwriter Ellie Goulding's second studio album, Halcyon. The song was written by Ellie Goulding and produced by Jim Elliot and Goulding.
She later revealed, in a behind-the-scenes of her Anything Could Happen video, to MTV her feeling on the song. She stated "I suppose it's one of those songs where I sort of talk about bits of my childhood, but also about my friendship with this person, and, um, I suppose it's a song of realization," she told MTV News. "And it's called 'Anything Could Happen,' [so] I'm hoping it will make people go out and propose to their girlfriends or go on that holiday they never ended up doing. I hope it will provoke positivity, as opposed to make people really sad."
A Music video to accompany the official release of her song is currently being filmed. It was revealed the video would feature Ellie doing all her own stunts, such as being dropped onto a roof, when it was published she refused the offer of a stunt man.The video, and release of her song, is said to be the Starry-Eyed singers first attempt to move on from the US success of her US Billboard Hot 100 topper 'Lights.'
