Justin Timberlake
Jan 15, 2013
We've been waiting for it, and it is finally here. Justin Timberlake's long awaited return to music is here with help from Jay-Z.
After teasing it out, in various different forms, for the better part of a week, Justin Timberlake has just announced his first new album since 2006's ridiculously good multi-platinum smash album, FutureSex/LoveSounds. In an open letter on his website, Timblerlake writes that he started work on the new LP last summer, that it's called The 20/20 Experience, and that it'll be out later this year.
Timberlake recently dropped the first single from the LP, "Suit & Tie." It's a lush party song with production from JT's old collaborator Timbaland and a guest verse from Jay-Z. On 2006's FutureSex/LoveSounds, Justin Timberlake looked forward in time to imagine what dance music in, say, 2013 might sound like. On "Suit & Tie", he is looking backwards-- deep into the 1970s, in fact-- to reimagine old sounds and styles.
"I be on my suit and tie sh-t," Timberlake says at the Timbaland-produced track's start. Jay starts off his verse similarly, boasting about his penchant for wearing "all black at the white shows, white shoes at the black shows."
"I don't want to put anything out that I feel like is something I don't love. You just don't get that every day. You have to wait for it," Timberlake said in a video clip posted on his website. "I'm ready."
The 20-track album will be produced entirely by Timbaland and is confirmed to feature a collaboration with Beyoncé as well.
