"Sorry" is a
song by singer-songwriter Madonna. Madonna Louise
Ciccone Ritchie was born on August 16th 1958 in Bay City, Michigan.
Madonna singer songwriter is the third of six children. Her family lived in Detroit
suburbs. In 1977, Madonna left the University of Michigan and moved to
New York City to pursue a career in the dance industry. For a while she
worked at Dunkin’ Doughnuts. To start her career, she signed a contract
with Sire Records, a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Records and soon after
released her first single, “Everybody”. Since then, she has been called
the Queen of Pop by Rolling Stone magazine. Madonna preformed as part of
the bands Emmy and Breakfast Club before releasing her self-titled debut
album in 1983. After that she went on to release 10 other albums
including her most recent “Hard Candy” in which she performed a duet
with Justin Timberlake. She has sold over 200 million albums worldwide.
In addition to singing as a pop star, Madonna has acted in 22 movies.
Most of them, however, were commercially unsuccessful. She was able to
have some success with her film “Evita” which she co-starred with
Antonio Banderas.
She won a
Golden Globe award for her role. Some of her hit songs from her
early career include “Everybody” and “Lucky Star”. Her first
single to hit number one on music charts was “Like A Virgin”
which was released in 1984. She went on to have another six
number one singles in her first decade: Crazy For You, Live To
Tell, Papa Don’t Preach, Open Your Heart, Who’s That Girl, and
Like A Prayer. In the 90’s, she had more singles but not as many
made it to the top. Her number ones from this time were: Vogue,
Justify My Love, This Used To Be My Playground, and Take A Bow.
Just recently, her duet with Justin Timberlake: “4 Minutes” was
a huge hit though it only made it to third place on Billboard
Hot 100. The song and its music video were also extremely
successful on iTunes. Madonna is married to Guy Ritchie and has
two sons and a daughter including one whom she adopted from
Malawi. In 2006, a new species of water bear was discovered in
South America and was named after her: Echiniscus Madonnae. The
Integrated Taxonomic Information System number of the bear is
711164.
