"Through Glass" is a
song from the band Stone Sour. Stone Sour’s “Through Glass” is their
second single from their second album, “Come What(ever) May”. It was
released through Roadrunner Records in 2006. Frontman Corey Taylor says
that the song is about the, “cliché, vacant, Hollywoodesque party where
we're seeing all these plastic people. We're seeing celebrity culture
and consumer culture magnified in a way that distracts people from
thinking about what they should be thinking about.” Stone Sour's Through
Glass song came from Taylor’s outrage at the shallowness of the music
industry. He tells this story, “I was sitting in a European hotel room
watching a music video channel, seeing act after act after act of this
insane, innocuous, plastic music. They were plastic, bubbly,
gossamer-thin groups where it was really more about the clothes they
wore and the length of their cheekbones than it was about the content of
the song they were singing. It really made me mad...and that's really
why I wrote this song.” Though Glass by Stone Sour is a song of outrage
against the superficial artists dominating the music industry enjoyed
enormous success in the very industry that Stone Sour attacked. Through
Glass reached the number two spot on the Modern Rock Chart and the
number one chart on the Mainstream Rock Chart in the America.
