Watch Those Crazy Zip Codes In Nielsen if the Top 5 Metros ... They're Already Like Zip Codes In Ohio For Prez Elections!
Nielsen has figured out that because there is no geographic balancing in their by-laws, they can get PPM panelists from the most remote areas of the Metro and not have an issue. Folks who live in these ex-suburbia areas (outlying areas of the big city but still in the metro) tend to be easier to have respond to surveys as they are not involved in the time consuming grind of the city.
For example, in Los Angeles the top-2 most-populated zip codes are in Lancaster, an area is 20% Black vs LA at 6.5%. Only 68% of the radio signals are able to penetrate this area of the city. The Wave has the highest percentage of Black listeners of any top-rated L.A. signal and the 94.7 signal is the second-best signal in L.A. that penetrates the Lancaster zips.
You can't hear KJLH, KROQ, KPWR, KABC and others in these 2 Lancaster zips -- and since these two zips have become the two most-populated PPM zips in all of L.A., the WAVE is #2 6+ -- Surprised, anyone?
