What Makes Social Media Great
August 21, 2018
-
Opening up our News Feeds can often feel as if we're walking through a field of land mines; where with just one scroll - an explosive post could go off and destroy our mood.
In fact, trolling is getting so out of control, there is an urgent plea from educators and mental health providers to moderate social media use. The connection between social media addiction and declining mental health should be a wake up call.
However, if there were more moments like yesterday, perhaps social would be more enjoyable overall.
You may have already seen the video.
If not, this was the best thing to flow through the #NationalRadioDay feed yesterday.

These moments are magic and should happen more and more.
Allow this to serve as a reminder.
If we want a better social media experience, it starts with us.
How encouraging are we? Especially to people throwing their creativity out there.
How helpful are we?
A ton of people, including Broadway Bill Lee himself, lifted this young talent up yesterday.
This is the essence of social; don't ever let it get lost.
Let us always ask before we speak:
- Is it necessary?
- Is it of value?
- Does it help define how I want to be perceived?
If not, reconsider what you're about to say.
Let's have more moments lifting each other up.
