CBS RADIO Top 40/Rhythmic KLUC/LAS VEGAS morning man CHET BUCHANAN and his Morning Zoo co-horts LAUREN MICHAELS and SPENCE NOFSINGER have been inked to new three-year deals to keep the team together through 2014.
PD CAT THOMAS said, "When you have the most talented morning show in the market on the most listened to station, it only makes sense that we would do everything in our power to keep them on KLUC. The family atmosphere we have created here is due in a big part to CHET, LAUREN, and SPENCE. I wouldn't want to do this on a daily basis with anyone else."
The announcement comes on the heels of the completion of the 13th Annual 98.5 KLUC CHET BUCHANAN & THE MORNING ZOO Toy Drive, which wrapped up MONDAY after collecting 2647 bikes, filling sixteen 50-foot semi trucks with toys, and amassing $201,012 in gift cards and cash, all for children who may have not otherwise had presents this holiday season. BUCHANAN moved into a tent atop thirty-foot scaffolding on DECEMBER 1st and stayed there for the duration to encourage donations.
"It is so amazing to see all these people come together and be a part of something bigger than them," said BUCHANAN. "When you're there, its magic; the semi trucks lined up, the sea of bikes, the gift card count... it's indescribable."
Among key donations, TRYST and XS nightclubs gave over $171,000 in toys and bikes, WALMART donated $52,000, HOLLY MADISON gave $20,000, CRISS ANGEL donated $13,000, FLIGHTLINZ and the cast of "PAWN STARS" gave $10,000 each, WALGREENS gave $10,000 in gift cards, and PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES centerfielder SHANE VICTORINO gave the final $8,000 to bring the total over $200,000.
