Music website SONGDISH is getting attention by providing a "one-stop shop" for musicians, promoters and music fans, the DES MOINES REGISTER reports. " Founders GARY DEWAARD and his father, DAVE, launched the site on AUG. 1st, which now has hundreds of users -- including artists, promoters and radio station representatives -- signed up in various genres.
SONGDISH provides recording artists a place to upload their music, and access valuable data that could determine which cities they should visit to maximize their exposure. For booking agents, the map can indicate which artists would be successful at local venues. And fans can use the site to listen to and discover new music.
"It truly is a one-stop shop for everybody involved with making music from the day they write it to the day it is sold," GARY DEWAARD said. "Once music is created, there is a lot of people involved in marketing, booking a show."
The DOOBIE BROTHERS recently signed up, marking the largest score for the site so far. Artists from both coasts, as well as music hubs such as NASHVILLE. Users are charged on a progressive cost model, based upon depth of usage and usage type. Fans can join and listen to up to 100 songs per month for free.
The DEWAARDS believe the piece de resistance of SONGDISH is the heat map. Users can see the locations across the world that the song has been played. The technology that compiles that data was developed by DYNAMIC WEBWARE SOLUTIONS. "Anybody marketing their product, if they know who is interested and when they are interested, they can go now," DAVE DEWAARD noted.
Songdish also tracks songs that have been e-mailed and shows whether they have been listened to or not, eliminating the need for follow-up trips to the stations. "It’s not just a site where you put a song up and hope someone runs across it" GARY DEWAARD said. "It has features on it where, if I have an e-mail address, I can send it anywhere in the world."
