CLEAR CHANNEL Oldies KJR/SEATTLE morning star BOB RIVERS, co-host SPIKE O’NEILL, morning show Exec. Dir. ARIK KORMAN and Producer LUCIANA BOSIO traveled deep into the AMAZON RAINFOREST with WORLD VISION in late NOVEMBER to visit children in need. The crew stayed aboard a medical boat and headed up the AMAZON, stopping in villages along the way to meet families and hear their stories.
After returning to SEATTLE, The BOB RIVERS Show held a Radiothon during the month of DECEMBER to encourage listeners to sponsor 400 children for about a dollar a day. Child sponsorship provides much-needed clean water, food security, medical care and education and matches each listener with a unique child.
"When you sponsor a child in the Amazon, you are helping to save the rainforest itself," RIVERS said.
This year’s trip to the AMAZON is the sixth consecutive year that The BOB RIVERS Show has worked with WORLD VISION to encourage child sponsorship. To date, BOB RIVERS Show listeners have sponsored more than 3900 children in more than six countries, resulting in annual contributions of over $1.6 million to support needy children and their families.
