Many folks in the radio and record business have moved on and found new ways to make a living, but not too many are having as much fun doing it as former record promo pro TOM BOBAK. BOBAK, rather than drowing his sorrows of leaving the biz, is writing about those lovely refreshing adult beverages known as craft beers on a new website.
"ACB is inspired by the industry tip sheets that are/were such a big part of my music biz years," said BOBAK. We're a half-industry and half-fan web-based Craft Beer Daily. Our goal is to celebrate and cover the Craft Beer industry and its fans. Our approach is intentionally young-end and playful. We hope to capture the growing 25-40 demo that we feel is poorly addressed by today's more traditional websites."
AMERICANCRAFTBEER.COM was developed and is run almost entirely by music industry refugees. "It reflects our uniquely skewed sensibilities and reflects our love of music, celebration and pop culture," added BOBAK. Both my partner and myself are music label vets. I've done a couple of decades working major label promotion for some great places like VIRGIN RECORDS, GEFFEN RECORDS and the EMI LABEL GROUP to name a few. My partner in crime, JEFF CHENAULT, is a GRAMMY-nominated graphic artist known for his extensive work with NICKELBACK and his years at ROADRUNNER RECORDS."
"We think that the music industry and craft beer biz are kindred spirits," adds BOBAK, "so we've taken things we learned in the music biz and transposed them into the craft beer world. This is a craft beer lifestyle site. We view craft beer as not just a colorful and amazing growth industry but also as an entertainment -- not unlike others things we enjoy in the worlds of music, film, TV, sports, tech and travel. Hopefully this site will be a mash-up of all of this."
