January 5, 2012 at 8:15 AM (PT)
ESPN personalities MIKE HILL and MARK "STINK" SCHLERETH will take over the evening slot 7-10p (ET) on ESPN RADIO, starting JANUARY 10th. The new hosts were announced via a tweet from the show's Twitter account TODAY (1/5). HILL and SCHLERETH' appointment to fill the slot formerly occupied by BRIAN KENNY (now at MLB NETWORK) was initially reported by SPORTSBYBROOKS.COM in SEPTEMBER but unconfirmed by the network until now. The show will air MONDAY through THURSDAY until the SUPER BOWL and MONDAY through FRIDAY thereafter.
HILL has been with ESPN since 2004 after anchoring at NBC affiliate KXAS-TV/DALLAS and FOX SPORTS NET. SCHLERETH, the former DENVER BRONCOS and WASHINGTON REDSKINS guard, has hosted local radio shows in DENVER and serves as NFL analyst for the network.
"MIKE HILL and MARK SCHLERETH are already fan favorites," said ESPN AUDIO SVP MO DAVENPORT. "Their ability to expand on their friendship, their experiences and their knowledge of sports, combined with our listeners' passion, equals great content that can be enjoyed on multiple platforms."
"I'm more than thrilled to be a part of the ESPN RADIO team, which allows me another platform, to go along with television, to get a few things off my chest," said HILL. "MARK and I have always had great chemistry and a bond off and on the air, so I'm very much looking forward to this endeavor with him. Our plan is to make the show informative, provocative, VERY entertaining and most importantly, fun to listen to."
SCHLERETH said, "I'm both excited and humbled to have the opportunity to join ESPN AUDIO on a full time basis. In my 11 years at the network there is nothing I've enjoyed more than talking sports and telling stories on MIKE AND MIKE, and now I get to do it on a nightly basis. As if that isn't enough, I get to do it with MIKE HILL, one of my best friends and a guy I have a ton of respect for."
