Condolences to family and friends of CONNECTICUT broadcast meteorologist Dr. MEL GOLDSTEIN, who died WEDNESDAY (1/18) of cancer at 66, according to the HARTFORD COURANT.
GOLDSTEIN was best known as the longtime weather forecaster at ABC affiliate WTNH-TV/NEW HAVEN before his retirement in AUGUST; he had been doing radio weather reports at QUINNIPIAC UNIVERSITY Adult Standards WQUN-A/HAMDEN, CT and BERKSHIRE BROADCASTING CORP. Talk WLAD-A/DANBURY until his passing, and before his stint at WTNH had done nationally distributed weather reports for several radio stations from WESTERN CONNECTICUT STATE UNIVERSITY and moved into television at the short-lived SATELLITE NEWS CHANNEL.
GOLDSTEIN, who had been battling multiple myeloma for 16 years, also wrote a column for the COURANT for several years.
