Report: Partners' Spat, Restraining Order Complicates WCAP Deal
Meanwhile, the deal in which SAM POULTEN bought out partner CLARK SMIDT's interest in MERRIMACK VALLEY RADIO, LLC., licensee of WCAP-A/LOWELL, MA, appears to have hit a snag, with the VALLEY PATRIOT reporting that POULTEN has obtained a restraining order to keep SMIDT away from the station. The paper says that SMIDT and POULTEN have been at odds over operation of the station and both went for restraining orders, and POULTEN won the order to keep SMIDT away after an incident last month in which SMIDT allegedly arrived at the station to try and take back control of the operation. The original buyout deal was approved by the FCC on SEPTEMBER 19th but has yet to close, according to FCC documents.
