WAWZ Listener Wows 'American Idol' Judges

Encourages Listener & 'Idol' Contestant

Listener of PILLAR OF FIRE Contemporary Christian WAWZ (STAR 99.1)/NEW YORK CITY, MARISSA PONTECORVO of STATEN ISLAND, NY auditioned for "AMERICAN IDOL" 13 times before wowing the judges with her rendition of "Somewhere" from "WEST SIDE STORY" this season. 

PONTECORVO is the choir director at OUR LADY OF THE SEA church.  "MARISSA is a tremendous church worship leader on STATEN ISLAND and we are so proud that she has an opportunity to bring Christ to AMERICAN IDOL," said PD/morning host JOHNNY STONE.

WAWZ Morning Host JOHNNY STONE called to congratulate PONTECORVO this week.  PONTECORVO in turn explained that she had listened to WAWZ since she was 14 and that "JOHNNY STONE IN THE MORNING" encouraged her in the car every morning.
