  LAUREL WRIGHT has been named the winner of the 30th annual TEXACO COUNTRY SHOWDOWN. The sixteen year old takes home a $100,000 grand prize. WRIGHT advanced to the finals after winning CUMULUS Country WIVK/KNOXVILLE’s local contest.
  The finals were taped in NASHVILLE at the RYMAN AUDITORIUM and will air in APRIL on various syndicated stations.
