Radio Row Reunion: Mike And The Mad Dog Trade Guest Shots
February 1, 2012 at 3:49 AM (PT)
The biggest news from Radio Row at the SUPER BOWL was an impromptu reunion of MIKE FRANCESA and CHRISTOPHER "MAD DOG" RUSSO, the former CBS RADIO Sports WFAN-A/NEW YORK afternoon team that broke up in 2008 when RUSSO left to go solo on SIRIUS XM RADIO.
The two hosts were both set up at the event and FRANCESA asked RUSSO to come on the air on WFAN and the TV simulcast on the YES network, leading to a 20-minute segment that ranged from the SUPER BOWL (RUSSO picked NEW ENGLAND) and personal matters (including RUSSO's son TIMMY's basketball prowess and college recruitment) to baseball topics (on the METS, RUSSO laughed, "they stink!"). FRANCESA later joined RUSSO on SIRIUS XM for more of the same.
The segment was not the duo's first reunion; the hosts traded guest shots on each other's shows in 2009.
