Congratulations to the CAPITOL RECORDS team, as KATY PERRY'S "The One That Got Away" becomes her record breaking sixth #1 single from the two-times Platinum album "Teenage Dream." It also becomes her seventh #1 in a row, a string of success beginning with "Waking Up In Vegas." In total, she's taken eight songs to the top (when you include 2008's "Hot And Cold"). PERRY, however, remains tied with MICHAEL JACKSON for the most #1s from one album (5), as "The One That Got Away" has yet to reach the top of the BILLBOARD HOT 100, which measures airplay, sales and streaming.
CAPITOL EVP/Marketing and Promotion GREG THOMPSON told ALL ACCESS, "Thank you KATY and thank you RADIO! Amazing music and an amazing partnership." VP/Pop Promotion JOE RAINEY sang her praises saying, "KATY is the rare artist who makes meaningful and real art with mass appeal, a performer who works so hard, and we could not be more thrilled for her." SVP/Promotion and Marketing DENNIS REESE concurred adding, "It's great for all of us when you have an artist like KATY."
What do you do for an encore? Well, according to a story in THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, film studio PARAMOUNT has initiated discussions with the singer's camp and IMAGINE ENTERTAINMENT to create a 3-D, documentary-style concert film about PERRY. More to come.
