MEDIA MONITORS analysis of listening to the AFC Championship game on JANUARY 22nd on the BALTIMORE RAVENS and NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS flagship radio stations shows that listening spikes corresponded the events of the game and the immediate aftermath.
BALTIMORE listening on HEARST Active Rock WIYY (98 ROCK) shows an immediate and marked drop-off right after BILLY CUNDIFF's tying field goal attempt went wide left, followed by a return of audience shortly afterward, attributed to listening on the way home from the game. Meanwhile, in BOSTON, listening to CBS RADIO Sports WBZ-F (98.5 THE SPORTS HUB)/BOSTON after the game, when fans were driving home from FOXBORO or viewing parties, exceeded listening during the game, even with a slight drop-off right after the game. "Winning helps ratings," MEDIA MONITORS concluded.
