Beer Honors Memory Of WBAL's Ron Smith

A local brewer has created a special beer to honor the memory of the late HEARST Talk WBAL-A/BALTIMORE host RON SMITH. The station reports that "REASON SAISON" was crafted by JAY LAMPART of JOHANSSON'S DINING HOUSE in WESTMINSTER, MD to honor SMITH, who died DECEMBER 19th after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
"RON has been part of my ride home since 9-11, which was also the time I moved to MARYLAND. I learned a lot about MARYLAND politics and critical thinking from RON," LAMPART told WBAL News.
The beer goes on sale TODAY, with a keg-tapping ceremony at the restaurant scheduled for tonight, and will be available throughout FEBRUARY or while supplies last (although LAMPART said he may make more when the original supply runs out). Proceeds from the sale of the beer will go to support pancreatic cancer research at the HOPKINS KIMMEL CANCER CENTER.
