Longtime WBZ/Boston Personality Dave Maynard Dies

DAVE MAYNARD, the longtime BOSTON radio personality best known for his long run in mornings at WBZ-A, has died at the age of 82, the station reported this afternoon. He had been battling Parkinson's disease for several years.
MAYNARD was on BOSTON TV and radio for 48 years until his 1991 retirement. He started at WHIL-A (now WXKS-A) and WORL-A, moving to TV as host of then-NBC-affiliate WBZ-TV's talent show "COMMUNITY AUDITIONS" in 1965 for a 21-year run. He joined WBZ-A in 1979 for overnights and moved to mornings a year later, hosting the wakeup show for 11 years. After moving to middays in 1990, he retired in 1991.
