FCC Rejects Challenge To Florida Translator Sale
February 13, 2012 at 12:40 PM (PT)
The FCC has rejected WILLIAM JOHNSON's petition to deny the sale of FM translator W244BC/OCALA, FL by RADIO TRAINING NETWORK, INC. to GENERATIONS BROADCASTING CO.
JOHNSON alleged that the station was impermissibly silent for over twelve months and that the seller discriminated against him on the basis of race and price in selling to GENERATIONS rather then him. The Commission said that there was insufficient evidence of the former and that the latter is a matter for local courts and his offer was not an offer to purchase but rather a programming agreement with an option to buy after the first year.
