FCC Reverses Course On Lightsquared Network, May Open Door For Senate Approval Of FCC Nominees

The FCC has determined that the LIGHTSQUARED INC. application to use a block of frequencies for a high-speed terrestrial wireless network will interfere with GPS devices and the Commission will therefore not lift the prohibition on use of the spectrum block, reports BLOOMBERG.
An email from the FCC's TAMMY SUN announced that the Commission plans to withdraw preliminary approval from LIGHTSQUARED's plan.
The move may end Sen. CHUCK GRASSLEY's block on the confirmation of JESSICA ROSENWORCEL and AJIT PAI to the FCC, which the IOWA Republican, who criticized the Commission's previous handling of the LIGHTSQUARED application, held up while demanding that the Commission provide documents about the LIGHTSQUARED case.
