CLEAR CHANNEL Talk WGY-A-F/ALBANY-SCHENECTADY-TROY will celebrate its 90th birthday on MONDAY (2/20). The station signed on for the first time on FEBRUARY 20, 1922, with PD KOLIN HAGER saying, "This is station WGY. W, the first letter in wireless; G, the first letter in GENERAL ELECTRIC; Y, the last letter in SCHENECTADY".
"WGY's family tree includes more than just the decades of respected staff who have walked these local hallways and entertained the community with their songs and stories," VP/Regional Market Manager KRISTEN DELANEY said. "Our family branches out to generations of listeners, who have grown up with us, who continue to discover us daily, and depend on us for their news, weather and entertainment".
"We are proud of our long relationship with the CAPITAL REGION, and have made it a point to celebrate WGY's anniversary by sharing our deep bonds with the community -- past, present and future", said Dir./News and Programming PAUL IHANDER. "Through our powerful on-air signals on 103.1 FM and 810 AM, wgy.com and our social media feeds, we look forward to extending the WGY family for many years to come."
