8 Senators Urge FCC To Have Stations Put Public, Political Files Online

Eight Democratic Senators have sent a letter to the FCC supporting the proposal that broadcast stations put all public and political files online in public, searchable databases, reports MULTICHANNEL NEWS' JOHN EGGERTON.
The letter offers the senators' "full support" for the proposal and urges the Commission to "implement these proposed rule changes as soon as possible. With campaign season in full swing and new Super PACs springing up weekly, the public must have access to information about who is funding these ads."
The letter's signatories include Sens. JEFF MERKLEY (D-OR), AL FRANKEN (D-MN), SHELDON WHITEHOUSE (D-RI), and MARK BEGICH (D-AK).
