MIDNATION MEDIA's bid to change the community of license of its new KNDH/HETTINGER-DICKINSON, ND to NEW SALEM, ND (closer to BISMARCK) has been rejected by the FCC. The commission said that the move would result in an "white" area now served by KNDH that would no longer receive any local radio coverage and another "gray" area receiving only one station.
The Commission has also proposed a $25,000 fine against WALTER M. CZURA for AM tower fencing, public file, and EAS equipment violations at Spanish Variety WNFO-A (RADIO SOL 1430)/SUN CITY HILTON HEAD, SC. An inspection found a collapsed fence by the station's tower, no EAS equipment, and an incomplete public file at the main studio, and an EAS encoder/decoder was found in the transmitter building plugged in but not connected to a receiver.
