LINCOLN FINANCIAL MEDIA Sports WQXI-A (790 THE ZONE)/ATLANTA makes it official with an announcement that it is picking up DIAL GLOBAL/WESTWOOD ONE's play-by-play sports coverage under a multiyear agreement that begins with the NCAA men's basketball tournament. The events, including WW1's NFL play-by-play, NCAA football coverage, OLYMPICS coverage, and major golf tournament broadcasts, are moving in the market from crosstown DICKEY BROADCASTING Sports WCNN-A (680 THE FAN)/ATLANTA. The move is similar to the affiliation changes for the package in SAN FRANCISCO and NASHVILLE, where CUMULUS incumbents lost the affiliation to rivals.
"The biggest brands in sports should be broadcast on the dominant station in each market," said DIAL GLOBAL Co-President DAVID LANDAU. "There is no question that in ATLANTA, that's SPORTS RADIO 790 THE ZONE."
"We are thrilled to be the new home of these phenomenal sports properties," said ZONE VP/GM ANDREW SALTZMAN. "From the immediate thrill of MARCH Madness to the anticipation of the MASTERS and NFL and college football, broadcasting these events only solidifies our position as ATLANTA's sports leader."
