JIM INGSTAD's RADIO FARGO-MOORHEAD Classic Rock KRWK (ROCK 102)/FARGO will flip to Talk on MONDAY (3/19) as 101.9 FM TALK. The station, a sister to Talk KFGO-A/FARGO, will be anchored by veteran talk host TOM BECKA, who recently exited CLEAR CHANNEL Talk KFAB-A/OMAHA last OCTOBER, and a show specifically for FARGO hosted by CUMULUS Talk KSFO-A/SAN FRANCISCO host and former Rep. JD HAYWORTH (R-AZ), and will pick up PREMIERE's RUSH LIMBAUGH, formerly at crosstown GREAT PLAINS INTEGRATED MEDIA Talk WZFG-A (AM 1100 THE FLAG), and SEAN HANNITY as well as FOX NEWS RADIO's BRIAN KILMEADE and GENESIS COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK's JASON LEWIS.
"This is such a great opportunity to help put a new FM Talk station on the air and be the first doing it," said BECKA. "RADIO FARGO MOORHEAD is a great independent company that still believes in the traditional radio approach that combines great programming with local outreach. At the same time they have been leaders in embracing the new technological advances. And about those winters? I'll deal with those later."
Consultant JON QUICK, who will consult the station as well as KFGO, said, "In these days of cutbacks, it is so gratifying that there are operators like the INGSTAD group who still believe that hiring great people and promoting them properly results in both ratings and revenue." He added, "The acquisition of pros like TOM BECKA and JD HAYWORTH to a market like FARGO, only underscores the growing belief that it's no longer the market size that attracts superior talent; instead it's the realization that independent, non WALL STREET regulated corporations may be the savior to radio as we once knew it. Great personalities doing great radio while touching communities is still a viable business model. The addition of today's 360 degree platforms of distribution only enhances it."
