FCC Denies Reinstatement For Two AMs

The FCC has dismissed the license renewal application by MORRADIO, INC. for Talk WLMA-A/GREENWOOD, SC and has also denied applications for extension of an STA, modification of the facilities, and sale of the station to JILL ANNE B. ELLER for $75,000. The licensee had been late with its 1995 license renewal application but won reconsideration and a renewal grant; however, the Commission found numerous violations at the station, including an unauthorized move of its antenna location, which the Commission says was never corrected.
The next renewal was due on AUGUST 1st, 2003 and was not filed in time, but after obtaining an STA with its late application, it continued to use the unauthorized facilities, making a total of 12 years of operation from an unauthorized site.
In addition, the Commission denied CWH BROADCASTING reinstatement of the license for Talk WHNY-A/MCCOMB, MS and deleted the calls and license. While the station's 2004 license renewal application was timely filed, numerous violations at the station prompted a 2010 follow-up inspection at which the station appeared not to be operational and the studio facilities abandoned.
When the Commission did not receive a response to an "Operational Status Inquiry" letter, it dismissed the renewal application and deleted the station's license and calls. The station contended that it had resumed operations in SEPTEMBER 2010 but failed to respond in a timely manner for reconsideration of the Commission's order.
