A judge has ordered CUMULUS MEDIA and PAUL FINEBAUM to get back to negotiations to settle their lawsuits against each other over FINEBAUM's contract as host at Sports WJOX/BIRMINGHAM, reports the BIRMINGHAM NEWS. JEFFERSON COUNTY Circuit Judge ROBERT VANCE told the parties to get back to the table after hearing oral arguments FRIDAY in the cases and saying that "it sounds like things are better than they were" since CUMULUS purchased the station from CITADEL.
FINEBAUM is suing CITADEL/CUMULUS alleging that the company used coercion to get him to sign an unfavorable amendment to his contract and threatened to cancel his show if he did not sign. CITADEL countersued for breach of contract. COX MEDIA GROUP has widely been reported to be interested in having FINEBAUM join its Sports WZNN (97.3 THE ZONE)/BIRMINGHAM if he can extricate himself from his WJOX contract.
