CLEAR CHANNEL Country KASE/AUSTIN has announced that it will team up with parent volunteers and the local community to present, SHATTERED DREAMS, a mock fatal crash program to educate students, faculty and parents about the consequences of drinking and driving. The educational demonstration will be held at ANDERSON HIGH SCHOOL TOMORROW (4/4) at 10a (CT). KASE’s BAMA BROWN, ROB MASON and HEATHER WHITE will attend SHATTERED DREAMS to speak with students and parents.
The AUSTIN POLICE DEPARTMENT, AISD POLICE DEPARTMENT, AUSTIN FIRE DEPARTMENT, AUSTIN-TRAVIS COUNTY EMS, STARFLIGHT and WEED-CORLEY-FISH FUNERAL HOME will all participate to attend to the “victims” of the accident. The “drunk driver” will be arrested at the scene to demonstrate the legal consequences of drinking and driving. In addition, every 20 minutes throughout the day, a student will be taken out of class to represent the statistic that someone dies every 20 minutes from an alcohol related incident. Interested students and parents will also have the opportunity to reflect on their emotions with counselors. On THURSDAY (4/5), a mock memorial will be held to recap the previous day's events and will include several inspirational speakers.
“It’s important to educate students and young adults about the serious consequences of drinking and driving,” said Market Manager, CLEAR CHANNEL MEDIA AND ENTERTAINMENT AUSTIN PAM McKAY. “SHATTERED DREAMS and KASE 101’s goal is to keep kids safe during this prom and graduation season and we’re happy to help deliver this powerful message.”
