The MEDIA ACCESS PROJECT, the longtime WASHINGTON public interest group focusing on communications policy issues, has announced that it will close its doors in MAY.
POLITICO reports that the group's ANDREW JAY SCHWARTZMAN said that MAP could "not raise enough money to maintain operations" and will close after holding a fundraiser to pay off a small outstanding debt. MAP was an influential and widely-cited organization in telecommunications regulation, creating reports and filing comments on issues like media ownership on a regular basis.
