Mark Davis Off The Air At WBAP (For Now, At Least)
April 5, 2012 at 12:53 PM (PT)
What's up with longtime CUMULUS Talk WBAP-A-F/DALLAS-FT. WORTH host MARK DAVIS? The host has been off the air since last week, but on his blog, he posted: "The question has arisen, and here is the answer. My contract with WBAP's new owners, CUMULUS, ended last week and we have been unable to reach an agreement on a renewal. I will be in all the other places I occupy-- FOX 4 (FOX O&O KDFW-TV) and (ABC affiliate) WFAA, and my column in the DALLAS MORNING NEWS -- and I will be here in the blogosphere every day, often multiple times, with my thoughts on matters large and small. Keep a good thought for all my friends at BAP, and treat them with high regard. Everything is cordial, and I have nothing but good things to say about everyone in that operation I have served for 18 years. No matter what happens, I will be in touch."
Sister Talk WKIM/MEMPHIS host BEN FERGUSON has been filling in for DAVIS and telling listeners that he's filling in for DAVIS. As of THURSDAY afternoon, DAVIS' page on WBAP's website remains intact, and the FORT WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM's ROBERT PHILPOT reports that DAVIS tweeted to the paper's account, "Careful everybody the story for today is not departure, but impasse. Thanks to all for the kind words."
