After announcing his retirement at the end of the 2011 season, veteran sportscaster DAVE NITZ has decided to return to independent minor league baseball's SIOUX CITY EXPLORERS as play-by-play voice for his fourth season calling X'S games on POWELL BROADCASTING Talk KSCJ-A/SIOUX CITY. KSCJ is in its 20th season carrying X'S games; NITZ has been calling athletic events for over 50 years, including 37 years as the voice of LOUISIANA TECH sports, and minor league baseball for 31 seasons.
"I guess I have become the BRETT FAVRE of minor league baseball. After announcing my retirement at the end of last season, I realized in January, I had made my announcement too quick," said NITZ. "I appreciate the EXPLORERS welcoming me back for the upcoming season. If I had not been treated so well by the entire EXPLORERS organization from the front office, the players and coaches and most importantly the fans of the SIOUXLAND area and the management of KSCJ, my return would not have been possible. I want to thank everyone for their support of the broadcasts and look forward to another exciting year of X's baseball on KSCJ."
"On behalf of our entire organization, it is an honor to have Dave return for a fourth season as the voice of the X'S," said EXPLORERS GM SHANE TRITZ. "DAVE is a true professional and I am confident our fans will once again be treated to a first class broadcast during our 20th anniversary season with DAVE calling the action on 1360 KSCJ."
"KSCJ is pleased to help the EXPLORERS celebrate 20 years in SIOUXLAND on the playing field and on the KSCJ airwaves," said KSCJ GM DENNIS BULLOCK. "We are also excited that veteran announcer DAVE NITZ will once again bring X'S baseball to the great fans of SIOUXLAND."
