RENDA Talk WGUF/NAPLES-FT. MYERS host DAVE ELLIOTT is among the organizers of a lipdub event for the city of NAPLES on APRIL 22nd. LIPDUB NAPLES will have up to 6,000 participants walking the streets of NAPLES lip syncing and dancing to "Dancing in the Streets," "Dynamite" and "Let the Sun Shine In."
ELLIOTT, who is working with former Mayor BILL BARNETT on the project modeled after viral videos from GRAND RAPIDS and TRAVERSE CITY, MI, told the NAPLES DAILY NEWS about the TRAVERSE CITY video, "My sister lives there. 'You gotta see this,' she told me. I went nuts. I called a few people and said, 'We can do that.' That's how it got started."
"Originally, the plan was to break the record set by Grand Rapids," ELLIOTT said. "We decided to go for 6,000 people, but then we didn't think we could do it. Realistically, from feedback we've received, we think we can have 2,000 to 3,000 people lining street, plus 300 performers ... It has the potential of generating millions of hits online. We want to show people we are a vibrant, energetic community with a lot to offer and a great place for families to live and a great place for people to work and find entertainment."
