CMT.COM celebrates 15 years of being online this week, marking the event with a look back at some of the most memorable moments of the last decade and a half. Video montages were created to commemorate the event, and artists have joined in the celebration on TWITTER via hash tag #CMT15YRS.
“People thought we were crazy when we launched,” said VP of CMT.COM MARTIN CLAYTON. “No one at that time understood the power of the Internet. CMT.COM was among the first genre-specific sites, and really one of the first brands to embrace the community. It’s incredible to look back at all we’ve accomplished over the last 15 years.”
CMT.COM launched in 1997 as one of the first major music websites among all genres. CMT.COM is home to original productions, including its performance franchise “STUDIO 330 SESSIONS,” as well as music videos, breaking news, event coverage and exclusive content. Earlier this year CMT.COM announced its new online performance series CONCRETE COUNTRY, giving a home to gritty performances by alt-country and roots artists such as LYDIA LOVELESS and THE FAREWELL DRIFTERS.
CMT is also prepping the launch of a new blog CMT EDGE dedicated to music discovery, highlighting roots musicians.
