PWC Sees Digital Revenue Up 22% In U.S.

Digital advertising revenue in the U.S. continues to explaode, with a recent report from PRICE WATERHOUSE COOPERS showing it expanded by 22% in 2011, reaching a record $31 billion. PAIDCONTENT.ORG writes, "the $9 billion grossed in the fourth quarter alone represented a 15% uptick over the third quarter and a 20% year-over-year expansion."
The INTERACTIVE ADVERTISING BUREAU, which released the report, noted a 27% growth in search revenue to $14.8 billion and 35% rise of display-related ads to $11.1 billion,
Some other highlights include:
* Mobile advertising spiked 149% last year to $1.6 billion.
* Digital video, a component of display-related advertising, grew 29% to $1.8 billion.
* Retail advertising grew 21% to $7.1 billion.
