COX MEDIA GROUP has finalized the lineup of the Classic Rock-turned-Talk WHPT (THE BONE)/TAMPA, which will debut this MONDAY, APRIL 23rd. Mornings will be anchored by BUBBA THE LOVE SPONGE; 10a-noon will be held WSUN morningster DREW GARABO, who does morning at Alternative sister WSUN and previously did FM Talk in ORLANDO.
The BILLY MADISON Show will air from noon-3p, featuring MADISON AND co-host DEREK ALLGOOD, along with CHUBBS and NARD. The show is also heard in mornings at Classic Rock sister KISS/SAN ANTONIO. MIKE "COWHEAD" CALTA, a holdover form the station's Classic Rock format, stays in afternoons form 3-7p.
Nights will go to longtime BUBBA THE LOVE SPONGE cast member MATT "SPICE" LOYD. "I'm very proud of 'SPICE,' seeing him grow into the broadcaster he is today has been nothing short of amazing," said BUBBA. "It is very gratifying to have another BUBBA protege on the all-Talk station line up for the new 102.5 THE BONE. He has my full support and I look forward to his show succeeding in this new, exciting, format."
"I want to thank BUBBA and the crew for an amazing experience and thank them for their support," added SPICE. "Over the last 15 years we became more than co-workers, we are family. I've learned a lot and I hope to bring that experience to my own show. Having an FM Talk show is truly a dream come true."
Rounding out the day will be The NICK and ARTIE Show from 10p-1a, with NICK DIPAOLO and ARTIE LANGE talking sports and whatever else crosses their minds.
"The top-rated performance on our current shows clearly tells us that TAMPA BAY likes what they hear and is asking for more," CMG/TAMPA VP/Market Manager KEITH LAWLESS said. "We have worked hard to insure we are giving them what they want with these compelling new shows. This is an exciting time in TAMPA BAY radio."
