FCC Proposes Fine Against Noncomm For Late License Renewal Application
April 27, 2012 at 4:08 PM (PT)
The FCC has proposed a $6,500 fine against BETHANY COLLEGE for a late license renewal application and subsequent unauthorized operation of noncommercial WVBC/BETHANY, WV. The station's application was due JUNE 1, 2011 but was not filed until SEPTEMBER 30, 2011.
In addition, the Commission is asking for more information in a dispute between SOUTH SOUND BROADCASTING, licensee of News KOMO-F/OAKVILLE, WA, and SUNNYLANDS BROADCASTING, which won the auction for a new FM at ILWACO, WA. SOUTH SOUND has applied to move the city of license of KOMO-F to BELFAIR, WA, to which SUNNYLANDS has objected; the Commission is looking for information to rebut the presumption that BELFAIR is actually dependent upon the OLYMPIA-LACEY Urbanized Area or that the proposal would better serve the public than the present allocations.
