New Talent Lineup Set At KBLX
April 30, 2012 at 10:14 AM (PT)
ENTERCOM will begin operating former INNER CITY BROADCASTING CORP (ICBC) Urban AC KBLX/SAN FRANCISCO officially TOMORROW (5/1.) Consequently, the on-air lineup will change.
The syndicated STEVE HARVEY MORNING SHOW will replace KEVIN BROWN, who exits. BROWN had been doing mornings and programming for the past 22 years. KIMMIE TAYLOR will remain as MD. Current morning co-host NIKKI THOMAS will stay on and do cut-ins with HARVEY. Current midday host STERLING JAMES also remains. Weekender VICTOR ZARAGOZA moves up to PM drive, replacing ANTOINE DAVIS who exits. ENTERCOM is currently searching for a new PD to replace KEVIN BROWN.
Market Manager DWIGHT WALKER, who replaces former manager HARVEY STONE, was upbeat about the changes, starting with HARVEY. “HARVEY’s mass appeal will resonate with KBLX listeners and bring in a wider audience over time and the new lineup makes KBLX stronger from top to bottom,” said WALKER. “The goal is those higher ratings will translate in advertising growth. KBLX has been a money-losing operation for the past two years and the bankruptcy receiver said the station lost $111,000 already this year. “ The bankruptcy court judge signed off on the purchase of the station last week. FCC approval is expected shortly. In the interim, ENTERCOM will assume control under a temporary time brokerage agreement.
