WXRT Celebrates 40 Years

40 Years And Counting

CBS RADIO Triple A WXRT/CHICAGO is celebrating 40 years on the air.  To get the celebration started the station is celebrating one decade at a time.  

The station presented the first in a series of four monthly "XRT 4D Flashback Weekends" on APRIL 27th with a spotlight on the '80s and will continue a weekend each month henceforth (the next is the '70s this MEMORIAL DAY weekend).  Along with plenty of WXRT tunes from the era, listeners are treated to personal audio essays from the air staff on the cultural, political and musical topics of the time.

This summer there will be several shows tied into the celebration, including RADIOHEAD on JUNE 10th at the FIRST MIDWEST BANK AMPHITHEATRE.  Then DAVE MATTHEWS BAND will play for two nights at ALPINE VALLEY, JULY 6th-7th.   The station is offering special packages and perks to its VIP members for both shows.
