Capitol Celebrates Beach Boys' New Album
June 6, 2012 at 11:26 AM (PT)
The sounds of summer were everywhere yesterday inside the CAPITOL RECORDS building at the release party for BEACH BOYS' 29th studio album, "That's Why God Made The Radio." The party was held inside the very studio where the band had recorded so many of the hits that have spanned their 50+ year career.
The group's AL JARDINE, DAVID MARKS and BRUCE JOHNSTON welcomed the crowd, mingling and posing for pictures as tracks from their new album filled the air. L.A. radio was well represented by KIIS-FM SVP/PD JOHN IVEY, KBIG (MY FM) OM/PD ANDREW JEFFRIES and APD/MD BRANDON BELL, KOST PD STELLA PRADO, KRTH (K-EARTH) PD JHANI KAYE plus KROQ's RODNEY BINGENHEIMER, who were seen soakin' up the sounds alongside guitarist JEFF "SKUNK" BAXTER, producer DON WAS, classic TV series actors BILLY MUMY ("Lost In Space") and TONY DOW ("Leave It To Beaver").
ALL ACCESS radio editors MARK STRICKLAND and ED BROWN somehow got past security and wish to thank CAPITOL promo pals MEGAN YOUNGBLOOD and BRIEN TERRANOVA for the great time and for not calling the guards on them. We also wish everyone at CAPITOL a (belated) Happy 70th Birthday, since it was on JUNE 4th, 1942 when the company was launched in the US. The current L.A. headquarters, the iconic CAPITOL TOWER, opened in APRIL 1956 and is on the list of Registered Historic-Cultural Monuments.
