Bob Kur Retiring From WTOP
June 13, 2012 at 12:41 PM (PT)
Longtime WASHINGTON newsman BOB KUR is retiring from HUBBARD News WTOP/WASHINGTON, according to an email sent to station staffers by VP JIM FARLEY. KUR's last day at WTOP will be FRIDAY (6/15); he joined the WTOP operation, then owned by BONNEVILLE, from NBC NEWS as part of the staff of the short-lived WASHINGTON POST RADIO that aired on what is now News WFED-A in 2006.
FARLEY wrote that "as much as we would love for (KUR) to stay, he wants to take time to smell the roses.... When it first became known that Bob would be joining us, some folks fretted we might be getting a 'network star' with all the ego baggage that connotes. What we got was a rock solid pro, one of the nicest people in the newsroom, and with doubt, a true mensch."
