FCC Nixes Boston Pirates' Appeal Of Fines
June 25, 2012 at 4:54 AM (PT)
The FCC has rejected alleged pirate radio operator LLOYD MORRIS and ROBERT BROWN's' appeals of their $15,000 fines for operating an unauthorized FM station in the MATTAPAN section of BOSTON.
MORRIS and BROWN were both fined for the operation "DATZ HITS RADIO," and fines were issued in 2011. They appealed a day late, and the Commission declined to grant a waiver of the deadline, which it says it reserves for "extraordinary circumstances." It also asserts that the appellants did not show any "material error or omission in the underlying order or raises additional facts not known or not existing until after" the last opportunity to introduce the facts.
